“After nourishment, shelter and companionship, stories are the thing we need most in the world
Philip Pullman
Writing is an act of love. We cannot write well about something we don’t notice. To pay attention is one of the best ways to love. This was where we started. What do you love and why? What are the specific details that make you cherish this person, this place, this dear creature? We sat very still and let the things we loved come in close and then we let them loose on the page.
Over two years, with support from the Redlands City Council and the Queensland Government through the Regional Art Development Fund, we shared our stories. We wrote about what we loved and what hurt us and what made us laugh. We wrote our way into the deep places. We got better as writers and then we made a book.
This website is to celebrate that book and to honour the people and stories of the Southern Moreton Bay Islands.
